These findings, detailed in a report produced by the company called “Origin of Hacks”, includes a list of the top countries where hacking attempts originate from. The United States came out as number one, with one in five (20.8 percent) hacks coming from people living inside the country. This is perhaps not surprising, given that the country also came out on top in the previous two quarters for 2012. Russia meanwhile saw the largest growth in hack attempts, with a total increase of almost 70 million in quarter three compared to quarter two of 2012. The top ten are as follows: United States – 20.8%
Russia – 19.1%
China – 16.3%
Ukraine – 3.6%
Germany – 2.4%
South Korea – 2.3%
Romania – 1.9%
India – 1.8%
Taiwan – 1.7%
Brazil – 1.7%
